　　According to reports, oracle bone inscriptions are the source of Chinese characters. Since their discovery in 1899, about 150,000 pieces have been unearthed and collected in museums, libraries and other institutions at home and abroad.

At present, more than 1,600 of the more than 4,500 oracle bone inscriptions have been interpreted, and most of the oracle bone inscriptions are still waiting to be interpreted.

For example, the Henan Province Collaborative Innovation Center for the Yellow River Civilization launched the "Oracle Bone Studies and Yin Shang Civilization Platform"; the Chinese Character Museum rewarded 100,000 yuan for deciphering uninterpreted oracle bone inscriptions.

Activities such as the Symposium on Character Research of the Academic Committee of Wang Yirong's Oracle Research and the International Symposium to Commemorate the 120th Anniversary of the Discovery of Oracle Bone Inscriptions were held successively.

　　However, Han Xiao believes that the current research on oracle bone inscriptions is basically still in a state of fragmentation, with a lack of research platforms, insufficient researchers, scattered forces, more theoretical results, and less application results.

"There is an urgent need to establish a provincial Oracle Research Institute to integrate Oracle research strength and resources."

　　He said that the establishment of the Oracle Institute has three feasibility advantages in terms of geography, data and intelligence.

The oracle bone inscriptions were discovered in Yin Ruins in Anyang, Henan, and the Chinese Characters Museum in Anyang is the only national-level museum with characters as the theme in China. These are the geographical advantages of Henan’s establishment of a provincial oracle bone inscription research institute.

Han Xiao introduced that research platforms and institutions such as Henan University and the Chinese Character Museum have quite a lot of oracle bone inscriptions and oracle bone inscriptions, and there are many oracle bone fragments scattered among the people in Anyang.

The "Yinqi Wenyuan" graphic database developed by Anyang Normal University also contains most of the materials related to the study of oracle bone inscriptions, such as "A Collection of Oracle Bone Inscriptions".

　　Han Xiao suggested that the Oracle Research Institute adopts joint construction and co-management by the province and the city, and the two parties jointly invest to integrate the resources and advantages of all aspects of Oracle research from the whole country and even the world, and the results obtained will be used for the economic, social and cultural development of Henan Province.
