There is no longer any obstacle, at least legal, to the construction of the first cable car in Île-de-France.

The administrative court of Melun (Seine-et-Marne) confirmed this Thursday the public utility of the cable car which will connect the Pointe du Lac in Créteil to the Bois Matar in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges in the Val-de-Marne, reports

Two appeals had been filed against the decree of October 22, 2019 which declared the project to create the cable transmission line to be of public utility.

They came from the association of Sarrazins south of Créteil and three companies from Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, opposed to the project whose function is to open up the sector.

Justice confirmed the prefectural decree, indicating that the transport capacity of around 1,500 people at rush hour offered "a saving of time compared to other public transport".

The cost of the project is estimated at 132 million euros and the rate of return at 4.6%.

The court also found that the project owner had "integrated measures to avoid, reduce and compensate for the impacts" on the environment.
