The number of influenza patients reported by about 5,000 medical institutions nationwide in the week ending on the 8th of this month was 23,139, 2.37 times the number of the previous week, and in three prefectures including Okinawa, one medical institution has more than 10 patients per week.

Experts are calling for thorough basic infection control, as the simultaneous epidemic of corona and influenza is occurring.

According to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and others, the number of influenza patients reported from about 5,000 medical institutions nationwide in the week ending on the 8th of this month was 23,139, 2.37 times the previous week.



The number of patients per week per medical institution is 4.37, and the number of patients nationwide is estimated to be about 182,000.



Looking at the number of patients per medical institution by prefecture,


▽ Okinawa Prefecture has the highest number of 17.77,


followed by


▽ Miyazaki Prefecture with 12.37 people, and


▽ Saga Prefecture with 10.08 people


. All three prefectures have issued warnings on influenza, exceeding the "warning level" of 10 people, which is considered to be highly likely to cause a major epidemic.



In other regions,


▽ Fukuoka Prefecture has 9.62 people,


▽ Osaka Prefecture has 8.26 people,


▽ Ehime Prefecture has 7.39 people, and


▽ Nagasaki Prefecture has 7.11 people.



Professor Kazuhiro Tateda of Toho University, who is familiar with infectious diseases, said, ``The simultaneous epidemic of coronavirus and influenza, which was a concern, is occurring. I want you to take thorough infection control measures again."
