The former deputy of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Abbas Shoman, described those who insulted Al-Shaarawi as children who wanted to destroy the fruits of a high palm tree, so their stones fell over their heads, and the fruits continued to admire the beholders and purely for the eaters.

Osama Al-Azhari, the religious advisor to the Egyptian president, also responded to those who accused Al-Shaarawi of extremism by saying that the sheikh was a wall that protected Egyptians from extremism, and reunited Egyptians to taste the Holy Quran.
