Keiko Arimoto, who was abducted by North Korea 40 years ago, turns 63 on the 12th.

With no progress being made towards her resolution, she was told by her 94-year-old father Akihiro, "She is also old, and the government can help the abductees." I want you to take a strong response," he said.

Forty years ago, in 1983, Keiko Arimoto was abducted by North Korea at the age of 23 while traveling in Europe after completing her studies in London.

Her 12th is her 63rd birthday, and her father, Akihiro (94), responded to NHK's interview at her home in Kobe city.

In this, Mr. Akihiro said, ``I think that my daughter has changed in appearance after 40 years.

Last year marked the 20th anniversary of the Japan-North Korea Summit Meeting on the abduction issue, but there has been no progress leading to the repatriation of the remaining victims. There are growing calls for a solution.

Mr. Akihiro said, "He is also old, and I want the government to take strong measures to help the abductees."

Arimoto's family has refrained from holding a special celebration for her birthday since her mother Kayoko died three years ago at the age of 94, but this year she will have a cake. I have decided to prepare and vow to rescue them as soon as possible.
