• The Nantes University Hospital, the leading employer in Pays-de-la-Loire, is organizing a major job dating this Wednesday to deal with its recruitment difficulties.

  • The hospital obviously offers nursing positions, but is also looking for many technical, administrative or logistical agents to ensure the proper functioning of the structure.

It is the largest employer in the Pays-de-la-Loire region.

And with some 9,500 agents excluding doctors who work there, the Nantes University Hospital is not immune to the recruitment difficulties that the country is currently experiencing.

“Like every year, we have to recruit around 1,800 people, in a particularly tight job market, observes Luc-Olivier Machon, director of human resources at the Nantes hospital.

It is not only in the care sector where we have permanent needs.

We are also looking for catering professionals, plumbers, administrative staff… Jobs that are ultimately just as important for the proper functioning of the hospital.

with an impact on patient care.

To find these rare pearls, the CHU organized its own job dating this Wednesday, on the Saint-Jacques hospital site.

Turnover, sick leave, internal mobility, retirements... If the HRD ensures that "it is not an absolute crisis situation", "it's a hassle in all services", hears- We are in the aisles of this forum, which concerns all of the various professions of the CHU, i.e. more than 150. In addition to the positions of nurses or caregivers (and in particular those at night) dozens of laundry contracts, security guard, heating engineer, or cook are up for grabs.

“For certain professions such as logistics, for example, no need for qualifications, you just need to be motivated,” says a recruitment manager on the spot.

When a candidate does the job, we can call him back the same day for a very quick start.

You have to be very reactive, when you know that sometimes several weeks go by without any application reaching us.

Wage competition

This Wednesday morning, there are people but there is no rush either among the candidates.

At 55, Larbi would like to join the CHU.

Currently on fixed-term contract, this fire safety officer did not suspect that we might need him here.

"My job is to protect people, so doing it in the hospital, for caregivers and patients, I think it's even better", says this Nantes man who also hopes to reduce his journey time by changing of employer.

A drop in his fuel bill which would allow him to take the pill of a salary deemed unattractive, as regularly denounced by the unions.

Because public-private competition is particularly tough, especially in the technical professions.

“The subject of wages arises but these trades are better and better recognized within the CHU, estimates Frédéric Hamon, hospital engineer at the head of around fifty electricians, heating engineers, painters or carpenters.

They have fixed hours, little travel, work on high-tech installations…”

A second edition of this job dating, which allows a "spotlight on the diversity of professions", could take place in the coming months.

A way to ensure that the arms will not be lacking this summer, in the offices, the corridors, but also the blocks and the rooms of the CHU.

“Nursing students can thus come and meet us directly,” explained two health executives.

It is easier to answer their questions about the department, the team… The link is made better than when they simply send their CV on a platform.
