The discovery of the presence of animals belonging to protected species on the site in Noisy-le-Grand (Seine-Saint-Denis) is likely to compromise the progress of a real estate project.

Two types of bats, the common pipistrelle and the Nathusias pipistrelle, have indeed been observed in the Bois de la Justice sector, reports Actu Seine-Saint-Denis.

This was indicated by the research of the Rally for the study of nature and the development of Roissy-en-Brie and its district (RENARD).

The tawny owl, protected throughout France since 1976, was also seen in the 2.2-hectare undergrowth.

However, this area must give way to a complex of 500 housing units managed by BNP Paribas Immobilier.

The RENARD study concludes that the Justice farm is a breeding and sheltering site for protected bats.

The City of Noisy-le-Grand has indicated its intention to launch a public inquiry into the subject after the conclusions of the Île-de-France Environment Department.

The authority must study the impact studies carried out by the property developer.

Changes may then occur.
