Prince Akishino and his wife and their eldest son Hisahito visited a museum in Yokohama that traces the history of Japanese immigration.

This museum is the JICA Yokohama Overseas Emigration Museum, which was reopened last year to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its opening.

Prince Akishino was told that many Japanese immigrants from all over Japan immigrated to Central and South America and Hawaii after the end of the Edo period.

Afterwards, a meeting was arranged with Japanese-Brazilians and Japanese-Argentines living in Japan.

When one of them played the shakuhachi, the couple and Hisahito expressed their gratitude.
