A few days after the renewal of the strike of liberal doctors, the particular case of doctor Amélie Ricois sheds light on the situation of health professionals.

General practitioner in Eure-et-Loir, one of the departments qualified as “medical deserts”, this young professional has a total of 1,900 patients (against a national average of 800 patients).

“I wanted to turn off the computer and go home”

If it reserves 15 daily slots to deal with emergencies, that is unfortunately not enough: “on December 12, there were 46 calls for emergency appointment requests!

I wanted to turn off the computer and go home because I knew I couldn't handle everyone, she says.

In this kind of case, it is war and we pray that all those we have not seen will be well”.

"I'm proud to be a doctor, because I still had a hard time during my studies... But I don't know if we should be proud to succeed in working in these conditions because in fact, we accept what which is unacceptable,” laments Doctor Ricois.

“It hasn't been ten years since I've been established and in fact, I only have one desire, which is to do something else”.

OUR “DOCTORS STRIKE” FILE

Amélie Ricois tries, as much as possible, to hold health professionals in spite of this situation: "Today, I have lots of colleagues who are on their knees, who can't take it anymore, who are on sick leave and who will never return to do the work they loved;

so I say to myself "whoa, I shouldn't be the next one!".

I try to do everything so that this is not the case”.
