Bernard Grua, an activist against the war between Russia and Ukraine, sent an open letter on Friday to the organizers of the Armada de la Liberté 2023 organized from June 8 to 18 in Rouen (Seine-Maritime).

In it, he asks for the banning of the

Shtandart

, a sailboat flying the Russian flag, in application of the official sanctions decreed by the European Union.

The author of the letter explained that he relied on an update of Regulation (EU) No. 833/2014 made on April 8.

The text specifies that the boats of the Russian oligarchs and army are not the only buildings prohibited in European ports.

The measure indeed concerns "any ship registered under the Russian flag", says Bernard Grua.

, those responsible for the event replied that they would follow European regulations as well as the "authorizations issued by the prefecture of [the] region".

The

Shtandart

, which also flies the Ukrainian flag, was notably refused access to the ports of Bordeaux (Gironde) or Lorient (Morbihan) but was able to dock at Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) or La Rochelle (Charente -Maritime).
