(New Year walks to the grassroots) "Railway Man" Spring Festival travel diary: leave early and return late to witness passengers traveling from south to north

China News Service, Jiaxing, January 8th (Zhang Yudi and Tan Jiao) January 7th is the first day of the 2023 Spring Festival travel season.

Less than 5 o'clock, it was dark outside the window.

Yang Guoliang, a passenger transporter at Jiaxing South Railway Station in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, washed his face hastily as usual, tucked in the quilt for his sleeping wife and children, and went out quietly.

As soon as the car arrived at the entrance of the breakfast shop, the owner passed a scallion pancake through the car window: "Lao Yang, you go ahead and transfer the money to me when you are free." In a year, Yang Guoliang spends half of his time on the morning shift. , While waiting for the traffic lights, nibbling on a few bites of pancakes is his unshakeable breakfast.

The morning shift starts at 6 o'clock.

At 5:30, Jiaxing South Railway Station opened, and Yang Guoliang had already arrived at the station.

After changing into work clothes, putting on protective masks, gloves, N95 masks and other anti-epidemic facilities, and bringing working equipment such as walkie-talkies, flutes, and audio and video recorders, Yang Guoliang went straight to the platform.

On that day, Yang Guoliang was in charge of the train pick-up service on the busiest platforms 4 and 5 of Jiaxing South Railway Station. There are many long-distance trains from these two platforms, the flow of people is also large, and the requirements for the work of passenger operators are also higher.

"Be careful and even more careful, and don't be sloppy at all." Yang Guoliang secretly cheered himself up.

At 6:42, train G1421 departs; at 6:45, train D2212 departs... Both trains G1421 and D2212 are long-distance and have a large passenger flow. In the case of ticket checking 20 minutes in advance during the Spring Festival travel season, it is only half an hour. Within hours, Yang Guoliang and his colleagues provided guidance services for more than 1,000 people at platforms, passages, and ticket gates.

"Hello, may I ask how to get to the No. 6 carriage?" "Excuse me, is platform 5 this way?" constantly.

Yang Guoliang paid close attention to the "wind and grass" on the platform. Once a passenger looked around and looked confused, he quickly stepped forward and asked, "Hello, what is your car number?" He didn't hesitate to go straight to help.

Long-distance train tickets are difficult to buy. If passengers miss a train, they will not only lose money, but also delay things. Before the train departs, Yang Guoliang always walks and runs to help passengers who "step on the spot" to get on and go home. train.

After an early shift, he has to walk more than 20,000 steps.

Yang Guoliang, born in 1980, is a native of Datong, Shanxi Province. He is also a retired soldier who has been a soldier for 16 years and a party member with 13 years of party experience.

After changing jobs in 2019, he pursued his childhood "train dream" and came to Jiaxing in 2020 to take charge of freight train shunting.

In November 2021, he became a railway passenger transporter as he wished. At the station, he witnessed the travel of passengers from south to north and from season to season.

The work at the station is very busy, leaving early and returning late is the norm, and there are almost no holidays; when working, it takes half a day to stop, and the only time for lunch is to take a break.

Tired?

Yang Guoliang didn't seem to think so.

Every time he provides travel guidance for passengers and helps others get on the bus smoothly, his heart is filled with unspeakable happiness.

During the more than one year of working at Jiaxing South Railway Station, Yang Guoliang provided assistance to colleagues and passengers within his capacity, and he always rushed to work overtime during weekdays and holidays.

Yang Guoliang said frankly that his 7-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son have no clear concept of the Spring Festival travel season, but occasionally complain: "Dad is coming home later and later..."

"For me, Spring Festival travel is also my responsibility. I must escort everyone to travel safely and smoothly." Yang Guoliang said.
