China News Service, Jiaxing, January 6th (Zhang Yudi) "I am very grateful that I have the opportunity to meet the Chinese medical team, especially the gynecologist Zhang Lixia. Thanks to your superb medical skills, my wife has received good treatment. The operation It was very successful, and my wife has recovered now. I would like to express my gratitude to you again..." Recently, Zhang Lixia, a member of the 19th batch of Chinese medical team to aid China and Africa and the deputy chief physician of the Department of Gynecology of Jiaxing Maternal and Child Health Hospital, received a patient from the Central African Republic A letter of thanks from the family.

On June 13, 2022, the 19th batch of Chinese medical teams to aid China and Africa successfully arrived in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic in Africa (hereinafter referred to as: Bangui), and began their 18-month medical aid work in Africa.

For more than half a year, the team members have overcome various difficulties in the working environment at the China-Africa Friendship Hospital in Bangui and carried out their work in an orderly manner.

"Compared with China, the overall working environment of the local gynecology department is still far behind. However, we have brought in various instruments and equipment, which can basically meet the basic operations." Zhang Lixia said.

Recently, Zhang Lixia successfully performed a hysteroscopic endometrial polypectomy, which is also the first hysteroscopic surgery performed by China-Africa Friendship Hospital in recent years.

According to Zhang Lixia, Gbonou Guylaine, a 37-year-old Central African woman, has prolonged menstrual periods and increased menstrual flow for more than 2 years. After several visits to the doctor, her symptoms have not improved.

Zhang Lixia performed gynecological color Doppler ultrasound on the patient to suggest the possibility of endometrial polyps, so she immediately formulated a detailed treatment plan for the patient.

Before the operation, she did a lot of preparatory work, consulted relevant information, and formulated an emergency plan for the operation.

"The voltage of the China-Africa Friendship Hospital is unstable. We have connected the backup power supply from China in case of a power outage," Zhang Lixia said.

With the close cooperation of experienced surgeons and anesthesiologists, the operation was successfully completed.

Two hours after the operation, Gbonou Guylaine was discharged from the hospital with a smile on her face. The endometrial polyps that had plagued her for more than two years were successfully diagnosed and treated. She also became the lucky one who performed the first hysteroscopic surgery in China-Africa Friendship Hospital in recent years.

"I didn't expect to be able to get out of bed and walk around so soon. I felt that the operation was completed after I slept for a while. Thank you Chinese doctors!" Gbonou Guylaine said.

Zhang Lixia, 47, has been working in obstetrics and gynecology for more than 20 years.

For her, hysteroscopic surgery is a very common minimally invasive surgery, and she has completed a large number of various types of hysteroscopic surgery in China.

Zhang Lixia said frankly that at present, hysteroscopy technology is "blossoming everywhere" in China. China's tertiary hospitals are basically equipped with hysteroscopy equipment and instruments, and district and county secondary hospitals are also equipped with hysteroscopy equipment and instruments, which can complete level 1 and level 2 operations.

In the China-Africa Friendship Hospital, this technology has just started and has not been implemented in recent years. The doctors lack training and the update of relevant knowledge is not enough.

During the operation, the local doctors watched Zhang Lixia's hysteroscopic operation, gave them thumbs up one after another, and kindly invited Zhang Lixia to guide them in the operation.

"There is only laparotomy here, and there is no division of gynecology and obstetrics. Fortunately, I have been an obstetrician for many years, so whether it is cesarean section or gynecological surgery, I try my best to do a good job with Chinese technology." Help, lead'." Zhang Lixia said.

In the past six months of aiding Africa, Zhang Lixia has deeply felt the simplicity and enthusiasm of the Chinese and African people. "They have a lot of affection for China's help over the years. Many people will say 'Ni Hao' and 'Thank you' in Chinese."

"In the new year, I hope that I can make the technology minimally invasive, bring Chinese surgical methods to China and Africa, and carry out some academic exchanges to further improve the medical level of China and Africa and benefit local women." Zhang Lixia said.
