Tuna landed at the end of the year in Oma Town, Aomori Prefecture, known for its brand of "Oma Maguro", has been shipped for the first auction to be held on the 5th at Toyosu Market in Tokyo.

The tuna caught in Oma, the northernmost tip of Honshu, hit the highest price for 11 years in a row at the first auction of Tokyo's Toyosu Market and Tsukiji Market, which was formerly known as Tsukiji Market. It is known for its tuna brand.

On the morning of the 4th, at the Oma Fishery Cooperative, wooden boxes containing 53 tuna landed at the end of the year were loaded one after another onto the truck in preparation for the first auction on the 5th at Toyosu Market in Tokyo.

According to the fisheries cooperative, the largest tuna shipped on the 4th was 262 kg, which was landed on New Year's Eve.

The Oma tuna brand used to be defined as tuna caught off the coast of Oma. Regardless, "tuna landed at the port of Oma, Oma Town and received by the fishermen's cooperative association" is treated as "Oma tuna."

Mr. Tomoya Kikuchi of the Oma Fisheries Cooperative, who carried out the shipping work, said, "There are large tuna weighing more than 260 kilograms, so I want you to win the first auction this year."
