China News Agency, Urumqi, January 2 (Reporter Zhu Jingchao) The reporter learned from the Service Center of Taxkorgan Wildlife Nature Reserve in Xinjiang on the 2nd that due to the implementation of a number of measures to protect the ecological environment, the biodiversity of the reserve has increased in the past 10 years. , the number of wild animal populations shows an obvious growth trend.

The Taxkorgan Wildlife Nature Reserve covers an area of more than 16,000 square kilometers. It is located in the Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County (hereinafter referred to as Tajik County) in Kashgar, Xinjiang, where the Kunlun Mountains, Karakorum Mountains, Himalayas and Hindu Kush Mountains meet. On the Mill Plateau, the average altitude is above 4000 meters.

At present, there are 219 species of 54 families of higher vertebrates distributed in the reserve. There are about 15,000 ibex, about 2,000 argali, 20,000 blue sheep, 4,000 Tibetan antelope, and about 2,000 Pamirs. wild ass.

Aishanjiang Reheman, deputy secretary of the Party Branch of the Taxkorgan Wildlife Nature Reserve Service Center, told a reporter from China News Agency that a comparison of the data of the two scientific expedition reports in 2010 and 2019 showed that the number of wild animals in the reserve showed a significant increase. One of the important reasons is that the local government has implemented a large-scale grazing ban to improve the habitat of wild animals and provide them with a larger foraging range and a more suitable living space.

In addition, in recent years, Ta County has implemented relocation projects for poverty alleviation. Many farmers and herdsmen living in wildlife protection areas have been relocated from ravines and valleys to "clear land" for wild animals. It presents a situation of "people retreat and things advance", and the number of wild animal populations is also increasing.

Rare wild animals, including Pamir argali and snow leopard, have returned to people's sight, and even a large herd of Pamir wild ass was discovered for the first time.

Ta County officials said that in recent years, the government has invested funds in the restoration of the geological environment of the Wildlife Nature Reserve, closed illegal mining, and implemented special wetland protection operations, which has reduced human disturbance and continuously improved the living environment of wild animals.

Due to the continuous increase in publicity efforts, farmers and herdsmen have gradually increased their awareness of wildlife protection.

Aimaijun Ustamu, a farmer and herdsman, said that ibex often live near his place. "These are protected animals, and we know that we cannot harm them."
