The winter sales began this Monday in the four departments of the former Lorraine region (Moselle, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse and Vosges), a week before the rest of the metropolis, as usual. , due to the proximity of Luxembourg.

They will continue until January 29.

"It's going to be a very big day for us, our car parks are already full, we have already exceeded at noon more than half of the attendance (on the first day of the sales) of last year", rejoices Jérôme Pinard, director of the Marques Avenue shopping center in Talange, Moselle, after already a “record” year in 2022.

“A great opportunity”

The opening of the sales on the last day of school holidays is "a great opportunity" for merchants, who do not hesitate to offer, from the start of the period, reductions ranging from "-30% to -60%".

Traders from Lorraine obtained, ten years ago, winter sales in advance to fight against competition from neighboring Luxembourg, where the sales also started on Monday.

"Today, for the sales, we have to ensure that the first week is a success", explains Jérôme Pinard, for whom the very mild weather should not slow down the purchase of warm clothes, because "the promotions are very attractive”.

In the rest of mainland France, the winter sales will begin on Wednesday January 11 and will last four weeks, until February 7.

In Guadeloupe, the kick-off will be given on January 7, and only on February 4 in Reunion.
