Getaway The European city to travel with less budget is Spanish
Architecture Five iconic bridges of the Old Continent that you must cross
At least 38% of travelers want to make the same number of getaways as in 2022 and close to half say no, that the idea is to do a few more, many of them even
solo
.
Nature destinations win by a landslide.
And that yes, everyone wants to be able to enjoy at an affordable price, number one condition to
put land and sea in the middle
.
These are some of the conclusions of the new study on
Travel Trends in 2023,
carried out by the Skyscanner search engine, with a presence in 52 countries and translated into 30 languages.
The favorite places of digital nomads
It reveals many more facts, such as that most travelers would like to be able to work from a place where they can extend their vacation a few more days.
Madrid, Mexico City, Amman
(Jordan) or Alexandria (Egypt) are presented as ideal places for digital nomads.
In addition, the Spanish opt for experiences that allow them to
delve into nature
and provide them with well-being, a modality that was imposed in the Covid era and that is still valid.
The price, main priority
All the options are marked by a
common denominator, the price
, a parameter that is looked at more than ever.
Analyze this point Naomi Hahn, vice president of strategy at Skyscanner: "It is clear that we are more eager than ever to discover new places, despite the fact that next year we will have
more uncertainty in our pockets
. The passage of the pandemic has caused the travelers look for ways to make up for lost time, live new experiences and create new memories".
Hence, 41% of those surveyed have decided to give priority to vacations over other types of large expenses.

Tricks to find offers
The study confirms that, after the pandemic, consumers have returned to prioritizing getaways, but, at the same time, they are more careful than ever when looking for the
best quality/price ratio
.
They are increasingly making use of metasearch platforms and employing tricks to ensure they get the most for their money, such as being flexible about dates and destination.
In this way, "2023 is presented as a year of new discoveries, as
emerging
and affordable destinations now come to the fore," adds Hahn.
From Morocco to Hong Kong or Japan
The Skycanner user survey (it has 110 million downloads and works with 1,200 partners worldwide), combined with the platform's data on searches and reservations made, corroborate that, in the coming year,
decisions will depend on the price
.
In this sense, although 86% of the Spaniards asked plan to spend the same or more on trips abroad, they want to do so with rates that suit their needs, always looking for destinations with the best value for money.
Thus,
Agadir
(Morocco), Hong Kong (China) or Tokyo (Japan) are some of the favorites, having fallen in price by 68%, 48% and 40% respectively.

Escape "anywhere"
In fact, they don't mind traveling "anywhere" as long as it's at a good price.
Searches in this field lead to
Egypt, Cyprus, Abu Dhabi
, Portugal, or the Dominican Republic.
It is also fashionable to travel solo.
This is said by 78% of the travelers surveyed, especially in the case of
divorced
people (85%) and singles (80%)".
nature destinations
Sustainability
is another aspect to take into account
.
More than one in four (28%) say it is a more important point for them now, compared to before the pandemic.
Not surprisingly, 8% are considering new alternative destinations for the conservation of species or to promote
ecological awareness
.
In this sense, nature is presented as the greatest object of desire when traveling.
Animal watching and hiking are in the
top 3 of activities
, as well as interacting with the environment and
shinrin-yoku
, or forest baths.
Teleworking while traveling will be one of the constants in 2023.
How social networks influence
Regarding the way to search for trips, half of Spaniards use a mobile device and the
preferred time
to do so is the lunch break or while having dinner.
Although friends and family continue to be the preferred source of inspiration and influence for Spanish travelers (75%), the second position is occupied by
influencers
(41%).
When it comes to platforms, Instagram is the most popular
when looking for travel inspiration
: 45% of respondents stated that they are more likely to book a trip if they have seen it on the platform.
Travel to space
There is more, as supersonic travel is also gaining popularity.
One in three people surveyed (35%) dreams of
traveling among the stars
, boarding spaceships sometime in their lives.
And 40% believe that this type of flight will be common in the future.
