The actor Bert-Åke Varg is dead - he was 90 years old

According to the family, it was during New Year's Eve that Bert-Åke Varg tied the knot on the way to a concert.

An ambulance was called but his life could not be saved.

- Somewhere in the middle of this sadness, it somehow feels comforting that he had to leave earthly life in a nice tuxedo and shiny patent leather shoes, says the son Pontus Varg to the newspaper Hänt, which was the first with the death notice.

Bert-Åke Varg is said to have suffered from kidney problems, according to the family, and he has previously talked about his long-standing heart problems, including in Fråga Doktorn.

Bert-Åke Varg has appeared in countless Swedish films and TV series, but is perhaps best known to the general public for his role as machinist Gustav in the TV series Rederiet.

He also played the owl Helge in the popular children's program From A to Z.

As recently as last summer, Bert-Åke Varg spoke in P1.

There he told, among other things, about growing up on the farm in Hörnefors in Västerbotten.
