A construction worker who was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run in an incident in which four men patrolling a neighborhood association in Sakai City, Osaka, were hit by a car and killed two people, responded to a police investigation, ``Before driving. I drank alcohol."

On the other hand, he stated that he did not recognize that he hit people, and the police are investigating the situation at that time in more detail.

In the middle of the night on the 27th of this month, four people who were patrolling a neighborhood association on a city road in Naka Ward, Sakai City, were hit by a car coming from behind. Masanori Yamanaka (46) died, and Yasuyuki Inoki (49), a construction worker in the ward, was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run.

Police interviews revealed that Inoki had stated that he drank alcohol before driving.

On the other hand, he partially denied the charges, saying, ``I had an accident and left, but I didn't know that I hit someone,'' and said, ``I thought I hit a utility pole or something.''

Police are investigating further into the drinking before driving and the circumstances surrounding the four people being hit.
