The Minister of Health of Madrid,

Enrique Ruiz Escudero,

has appeared this Friday just two hours after the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, announced that

a complete vaccination schedule or a negative diagnostic test

will be required for travelers from China at airports, after the explosion of covid cases that China is experiencing.

Asking for a complete vaccination schedule is, in the opinion of

Ruiz Escudero, insufficient to guarantee

that covid cases from China do not enter: "It is insufficient. We understand that what must be requested is this

negative diagnostic test

for all travelers from China regardless of their vaccination status since the majority of these travelers have the

Chinese vaccine that we all know has relative

or very low efficacy and is not a vaccine authorized by the European Medicines Agency".

Faced with this situation, the Madrid minister insists on asking Minister Darias to hold this meeting of the Interterritorial Health Council "to

make joint decisions

with the autonomous communities.

The Madrid minister has also criticized the fact that the minister has announced the measure before

the experts have met

to discuss the measures that must be adopted: "It is surprising that the announcements are first made at a press conference and then the experts meet and that it also does not bring together the Interterritorial Health Council, which on other occasions has met for much minor issues and that now it is not done for something of this importance".

Ruiz Escudero's words refer to the impromptu press conference called by the Ministry of Health this Friday at 7:30 in the morning to be held at 9:00 a.m., before the

meeting of the experts who must decide the measures

, summoned at 11:00 h.

this Friday at the Presentation of Alerts and Preparation and Response Plans and, later, to the Public Health Commission, which will ratify the measures.

Ruiz Escudero has also referred to the accusations of alarmism, stating that "we are not in an

alarm situation but we do have to be very vigilant

. It is a country (China) that has gone from a zero covid to a total opening and about which we do not have clear information although we know that there are millions of cases".

Faced with this situation, the Madrid minister says he has already asked

hospitals to review their contingency plans for care

and to sequence the cases of positive PCR of citizens originating in China in terms of diagnosis.

In addition,

Madrid residences go to a pre-alert level

in which family visits will not be limited but contingency plans and the stock of protective equipment will be reviewed.
