An NPO in Morioka City provided free New Year's dishes to single-parent families who have been financially affected by the spread of the new coronavirus and high prices.

This initiative was carried out by Morioka City's non-profit organization Inkuru Iwate, which operates children's cafeterias.

At one of the venues, a hotel in Morioka City, about 60 households were given out, and those who applied in advance received them.

The osechi ryori are handmade by the hotel, and include black soybeans, chestnut mashed potatoes, roast beef, and other dishes that are easy for children to eat.

A woman in her 30s in Ichinohe who is raising a 2-year-old boy said, ``I'm really grateful that I was saving food costs this year due to high prices.I'm looking forward to eating New Year's dishes with my children.''

Rie Yamaya, chairman of the NPO Inkuru Iwate, said, "This year was a year in which we received many requests for support. I hope that you will have a special time to eat osechi and welcome the new year." was talking
