Since the announcement of the results of the recent Israeli elections and the fascist far-right's control of the Knesset and Netanyahu's authorization to form a government, the international community has been in a state of anticipation.

Positions ranged from boycotting the extremist government, especially if decisions were agreed upon that would redefine the identity of the state or overturn the international position supporting a political solution based on the "two-state solution" on the 1967 borders, and a second position declaring that it was waiting and observing the formation of the government and the agreements that would be agreed upon.

For us Palestinians, the results of the recent Israeli elections are not surprising. Rather, they reveal a fact that we have known for more than 70 years. We see its effects on stolen land and demolished homes, on the faces of millions of displaced Palestinians in the diaspora, and on the graves of tens of thousands of martyrs and millions of prisoners. We touch it every A day on our skins and the skins of our children in a continuous siege for more than 16 years imposed on Gaza, and turned it into the largest open prison.

This indisputable fact is not linked to the extreme right in Israel, but rather is part of a constant and continuous ideology since the establishment of the occupying state, the doctrine of Jewish supremacy and its essence is based on complete control over the land and getting rid of the other by all available means, even if they are illegal and violate international laws. .

For example, the last year in which the government of change led by Yair Lapid, who is affiliated with the center and in partnership with the left forces, ruled was one of the bloodiest and most violent years, as more than 230 Palestinians were killed, 171 of whom were in the occupied West Bank as of the date of writing the article, and a large number of them were children. minors, 9,335 injured, and 833 homes and schools, including those funded by the European Union and international institutions, were demolished.

But what is new about this government is that its members publicly announce their racist fascist plans, and this is what they agreed upon with Netanyahu.

It was agreed to pass the law of executing prisoners, expanding settlements, changing the status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque, accelerating the process of Judaizing Jerusalem, and starting procedures to annex the occupied West Bank, at a minimum, Area C, in addition to expanding shooting and immunizing army soldiers from accountability.

A few weeks ago, some Palestinians raised the ceiling of their expectations that the opportunity had come for the international community to discover the truth about this racist state, and they expected that there would be specific and harsh measures to punish the new government and pressure it to back down and adhere to international legitimacy, especially since Western countries showed a clear commitment to protecting freedom and human rights in the event of Ukrainian crisis

To ensure that this was achieved, the leaders of the fascist right, Ben Gvir and Smotrich, insisted on assuming ministerial positions that would enable them to implement these plans, and Netanyahu had no choice but to accept to escape the prison sentence awaiting him.

Practically and legally, these schemes mean re-characterizing the conflict in violation of international legal laws.

When he becomes the official of the Civil Administration, responsible for the daily lives of the Palestinians, reports to a civil minister instead of the army minister “according to international humanitarian law,” and Israeli laws are applied to hundreds of thousands of settlers in the West Bank and Jerusalem, all this means that these areas are no longer occupied areas for them. The Israeli government, in a coup against international decisions, and this is exactly what will happen when Ben Gvir plans to change the status quo at Al-Aqsa, which he has been doing for years.

Ben Gvir plans to change the demographic reality in the Negev and the Galilee, by expelling the original Arab population and bringing in a new Jewish population.

We do not need to wait for the formation of the government in order to know and see what it will do, but what is more important is the position of the international community on this racist fascist government?

A few weeks ago, some Palestinians raised the ceiling of their expectations that the opportunity had come for the international community to discover the truth about this racist state, and they expected that there would be specific and harsh measures to punish the new government and pressure it to back down and adhere to international legitimacy, especially since Western countries showed a clear commitment to protecting freedom and human rights in the event of The Ukrainian crisis, and harnessed a lot of political, financial and military support for that.

Unfortunately, however, these hopes began to recede little by little with the days and approaching the formation of the government, and we began to hear about hesitant and fluid positions towards the government, the most prominent of which was the American position on the words of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, when he stated at the recent J Street conference, "that the administration will deal with the Netanyahu government on the basis of its policies, and not on the basis of its personalities, among whom are possible prominent ministers in the government, who have expressed in the past extremist anti-Palestinian and anti-Arab views.” And the European Parliament, in its Resolution No. 2949/2022 (RSP) on the prospects for a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, expressed the same The hesitant and cowardly position in dealing with the new government, in contrast to his sharp and hypocritical position in the case of the Palestinian democratic experiment in 2006, when a comprehensive boycott was imposed on the Palestinian government and the cruel and inhumane siege on the Gaza Strip.

We have seen this position here in Gaza, in private conversations with a number of European diplomats and international officials when they visited the Strip.

These trends are dangerous on the one hand, because they miss a great opportunity to curb the occupation, obligate it to international legitimacy, and give the Palestinians their rights, and on the other hand, because they repeat the same game that we have seen for decades, as the occupation understands from these fluid positions that it is a green light and a new opportunity to continue implementing its plans of control. complete control over historical Palestine, and getting rid of the largest possible number of Palestinians in this area.

The Palestinians, for their part, have learned the lesson well, and they will not allow the recurrence of the Nakba, the setback, the loss of sanctities, or the theft of the land, and they will defend this with all strength, determination, and persistence.

In short, this means that the explosion in the Palestinian territories is a matter of time, and it will be wide and comprehensive, and no one will enjoy security or stability as long as Palestinian rights are violated, and the international community - primarily America and Europe - must radically review their positions, in light of the repeated failure to achieve a just or fair solution Stabilize, before it's too late.

Accordingly, we must not allow the Israelis to drown us in the details of their internal differences and the comparison between an extremist and someone who is more extreme, at the expense of the overall picture that has become clear and evident.

We are facing a racist fascist project that requires a firm international stance and practical steps to achieve a just and comprehensive solution to the conflict that ends the suffering of millions of Palestinians.
