After fatal shots were fired at students at a university in the Russian city of Perm, a court sentenced the shooter to life imprisonment.

The judge ruled on Wednesday that the man killed six students and injured 47 people in the armed robbery a year ago.

The Russian news agency Interfax reported that he was being sent to a prison camp for serious criminals.

In September 2021, the man shot himself with a hunting rifle on the grounds of the State University in the city of Perm, 1,200 kilometers east of Moscow.

The perpetrator did not give a motive for the shots.

Such acts of violence are now increasing in Russia.

Three months ago, a 34-year-old man caused a bloodbath at a school in the Russian republic of Udmurtia on the Volga.

It killed a total of 15 people, including 11 children, and injured more than 20 people.
