Last year, the market size of the anime industry in 2021 surpassed 2019 before the corona disaster and reached a record high due to the expansion of video distribution, overseas expansion, and sales of related products.

The Association of Japanese Animations, which is made up of animation production companies, announces the market size of the animation industry every year.

According to this, last year's market size was 2.7422 trillion yen, an increase of 13% from the previous year, and a record high of more than 227 billion yen in 2019 before the corona crisis.

For each of the 9 survey items such as "TV" and "Movies",

▽ "Distribution" exceeded the previous year by more than 65% due to so-called stay-at-home demand, and

▽ Program contracts with overseas and merchandise sales, etc. "Overseas expansion" increased by 6%,

and

▽"Commercialization", which corresponds to sales of anime-related products, increased by 14%.

Hiromichi Masuda, editor-in-chief of the ``Anime Industry Report'', which announced the survey results, said, ``It has been a solid foundation for anime in the past few years. I think the demand is reflected in the numbers. It seems that the future of 'distribution', which continues to rise, seems to have become a little more visible, so it will be an issue for the industry to think of new strategies." .
