A video clip angered the pioneers of social networking sites in South Africa, as the clip shows a group of white men assaulting black teenagers on Christmas Day;

Because the place was reserved for whites only.

In a tweet, the sister of the two young men, who documented the incident, stated that her family wanted to spend time in the resort, and saw adult men assaulting her two brothers, and she said, "We have filed a complaint against the aggressors."

As for the legal measures taken against them, the Free State Police Office published a statement saying: “An investigation is underway into the incident, and the case has been referred to court, and the offending white men are expected to appear in court at a later date. He said the county commissioner has convicted The incident will receive due attention from the assigned investigation team.”

The incident caused a sensation. On the day after the incident, citizens - the majority of whom were black - gathered at the resort around the pool near which the attack took place, and expressed their anger and condemnation of the racist attack, and some of them went down to swim in the pool to confirm their protest.

Big anger

The tweeters reacted greatly to this attack, as stated in the “Shababat” program (28/12/2022), where the tweeter Fossi Thempico demanded that they be imprisoned, and wrote: “Find them and throw them in prison, if they want places designated for “whites only.” They should only go to a white country...the racists are disgusting."

Activist Anton Allen expressed his anger, saying, "This makes me so angry! Adult men are attacking these black boys just because they want to swim."

Activist Thuli Madonsela commented on the attack, saying: "This is South Africa, where we must all say no, not only with our words, but with our actions, to the ghost of our ugly past that continues to rob us of our efforts, as we look to the future."

As for the activist, Vintage, he demanded that they be charged with attempted murder, and tweeted, "The man who dragged the little boy into the pool should be charged with assault and attempted murder. He was trying to drown him."

It is noteworthy that the population of South Africa is 60 million people, and African blacks constitute 79% of the population, and white Africans of European descent about 9.6%, while Indians and Asians represent 2.5%, and colored people 8.9%.

But under apartheid, the white minority ruled the black majority in an exclusionary fashion, even though the country emerged from apartheid and adopted a new, pluralistic constitution in 1996.

It is noteworthy that after decades of struggle against the apartheid system, Nelson Mandela succeeded in the South African elections, to be the country's first black president, after more than a quarter of a century in prison.
