The strike of some general practitioners quickly had repercussions on the rest of the health system.

In Haute-Vienne, this Monday, the number of calls received by the departmental Samu was up by around 30% at the end of the afternoon compared to the previous Monday, indicates France Bleu Limousin.

It was the first day of the movement of liberal practitioners against government measures to limit the shortage of doctors.

The head of Samu de Haute-Vienne was expecting a total of 900 phone calls on Monday.

The SOS Médecins service in Limoges (Haute-Vienne) is also at the maximum of its care capacity, with all the appointments available between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. already allocated.

The delays for obtaining a consultation can go up to two or three days against less than a day previously.

In addition to the GP strike movement, the situation is explained by three epidemics simultaneously reaching their peak during this period: Influenza, bronchiolitis and Covid-19.

Practitioners have also taken leave and the rich festive meals have also caused gastric problems in some patients.
