The authorities have put an end to the protective measures linked to avian flu in the Tarn, after 30 days without detection of a new outbreak in the department.

Operators are therefore no longer subject to restrictions on the movement of poultry, reports La Dépêche, on Tuesday.

Biosecurity measures still in effect

On November 17, 20,000 hens had to be slaughtered on a farm after the discovery of corpses carrying the virus.

Five days later, a restricted area had been set up around 72 municipalities.

Forced to keep their poultry on the farms, the farmers had been deprived of any sale.

Despite the lifting of these restrictions, the biosecurity measures put in place on November 10 still apply.

Dedicated to preventing the spread of the virus to farms by wild birds, they consist of sheltering poultry and alerting the DDETSPP (the departmental directorate for employment, work, solidarity and population protection) in case of suspicion.

Any farmyard operator must also register with the town hall.
