Be careful if you have an imminent real estate project.

A new scam targeting future homeowners was spotted a few weeks ago by authorities and banks, reports

Le Parisien

.

For a change (a little), the scammers pretend to be bank advisers and contact victims to offer them fake mortgages.

The purpose of the maneuver is to recover the personal contribution of real estate buyers.

A couple, who testified on Instagram, was thus robbed of 50,000 euros in a few phone calls.

A fundraiser to compensate the couple

In this story, the scammer brilliantly posed as a Boursorama bank adviser and made them a credit offer.

After sending the “advisor” their bank details, pay slips and identity papers, the couple was asked to transfer their personal contribution to the bank account.

This sum, which should normally be transferred directly to the notary, has obviously since disappeared.

The victims filed a complaint, without much hope of ever seeing their 50,000 euros again.

Contacted by

Le Parisien

, the marketing director of Boursorama indicated that a fundraiser had been launched in order to recover the sum.

This type of scam "is limited to a few cases", insisted on specifying the online bank.

According to

Capital

, Crédit Mutuel also warned its customers so that they would not be fooled.

As a reminder, the personal contribution paid during a real estate transaction must always be transferred directly to the notary in charge of the file.
