This role is a great gift for her, says Franziska Hartmann.

In the drama series "Neuland", the thirty-eight-year-old, who studied acting at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig and was a member of the ensemble at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg for a long time, plays the professional soldier Karen Holt, who, after the disappearance of her Sister taking care of her nieces.

In her words, this is a wonderfully nonconformist, withdrawn yet extremely heartwarming and awe-inspiring woman.

What do you eat for breakfast?

Preferably a croissant with a cappuccino.

But I don't shy away from scrambled eggs with baked beans and whole grain bread either.

I like to eat.

Where do you buy your clothes?

I don't like to spend my free time shopping.

But I'm very fortunate and I make use of the fact that you can buy costumes after a film shoot - in rare cases also in the theater.

I associate them with good experiences and memories.

What is the oldest item of clothing in your closet?

They may not be in the closet, but these are ankle boots that I bought more than 20 years ago.

Those were my first shoes with heels.

I can still remember walking proudly up and down the hall in it.

The shoes used to be blue, now they are grey.

When was the last time you wrote a letter by hand?

That was a few months ago: a love letter to my husband for our wedding.

I also often write postcards to friends and family.

What book has impressed you the most in life?

At different times in my life, different books impress me.

But spontaneously I would think of: “The Eighth Life (For Brilka)” by Nino Haratischwili.

This is a great family novel with great female characters spanning a century in Georgia.

We also staged that at the Thalia Theater in a five-hour production that I absolutely love.

How do you find out about world events?

I have an SZ subscription, otherwise here and there.

I don't use social media though.

What's your favorite small talk topic?

My hair is currently dyed blonde for a role.

So a lot of people ask me about it.

What was the last movie that made you cry?

Ever since I had a kid, I haven't really gotten around to watching movies anymore.

But in almost every movie I've shot lately, I've been crying.

So my characters.

Are you superstitious?

Not really.

But I still make sure not to say thank you when I say "Toi, toi, toi" that I'm already wearing a piece of costume and someone spits over the right shoulder.

And I wouldn't whistle on stage either.

What can you laugh about?

About a lot.

For example, about my two-year-old son's sense of humor.

your favorite first name?

This is a very good question.

Because I'm pregnant right now.

I don't have a favorite yet, but the baby won't come until the end of February - so I still have a little time.

Do you take a lunch break?

In any case, I like to have a nice coffee here and there.

There's always a 45-minute lunch break when shooting, but it can also be in the middle of the night.

In which country would you like to live?

In Germany.

Sometimes I carry wanderlust in me or see myself in a stone house in southern France, but I'm very happy to live in Germany.

What's never missing in your fridge?

Chocolate.

But you can usually also find capers, olives and sun-dried tomatoes.

Do you feel freer with or without a car?

Without.

I actually only drive in films.

What's your greatest talent?

I would like to ask a telephone joker.

But I can live quite well in the moment.

What do you do when it's unreasonable?

Postponing my tax return to the very last second.

Which historical person would you like to meet?

That depends on what I'm working on.

I just had a reading from Patrick Radden Keefe's Empire of Pain.

The point is that a family dynasty triggered the opioid crisis.

Also, I would love to meet an attorney, Maura Healey, who has sued this family.

And I'd like to meet a historical character that I'll probably play soon - but I can't say who that will be just yet.

Do you wear jewellery?

And a watch?

As jewelry, I wear my engagement ring and usually a long chain.

I never wear a watch.

Do you have a favorite scent?

stage air.

It regularly triggers feelings of happiness in me when I enter a stage.

Every time I think to myself: I'm in the right place here.

I also love most floral scents and the smell of newborn scalps.

What was your best holiday experience?

I have traveled a lot in my life, mainly with a backpack, diary and camera.

In many distant countries where I spent incredibly good times.

I can't even decide.

If I had to choose the most exciting experience, a situation that springs to mind is when I was alone in an exorcist temple near Agra, India.

There I was fished out by the police and taken to a back room because I was secretly taking pictures.

But in the end everything turned out well.

What concert were you at last?

I was at a friend's house a few days ago and our kids wanted to do theater and dance.

That's why my girlfriend should play the piano.

She's a great pianist, so we spontaneously enjoyed a small house concert - a piece by Poulenc.

Luckily, what are you missing?

Nothing.

what do you drink for dinner

Tap water.

Or herbal tea.
