After the workers' strike, the passengers' strike.

In response to the five-day SNCF strike in December 2022, the TGV Tours-Paris passenger association called on users not to buy tickets in January, reports France Bleu Touraine.

The objective is to protest against the cancellations of trains caused by these social movements and to demand compensation from subscribers.

Indeed, if travelers with a single ticket were reimbursed in the event of cancellation, regular passengers received no compensation while they pay their subscription between 500 and 600 euros per month, on average.

Hope for compensation

For the association, this situation is "inadmissible" especially since the strikes which occurred especially on Mondays and Fridays have particularly penalized subscribers.

The users' strike is above all a symbolic gesture.

“Whatever happens, we pay”, indicates David Charretier, president of the association.

“But it was to show them a bit of what a strike action could give users.

However, he hopes, through this, to obtain compensation for the five days of strikes suffered, i.e. a total of 150 euros for each subscriber affected.

This approach has already been supported by several local elected officials, including the deputies and senators of Indre-et-Loire, who have sent letters to the Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune.

Ten years ago, the Touraine association had already organized a users' strike.

The subscribers crowded into the bar car and the controllers didn't dare ask them for their tickets.

This initiative, which then spread to several other lines, such as Paris-Lille or Paris-Le Mans, enabled regular passengers to obtain compensation from the SNCF.
