Haikou Customs announced on December 21 that the amount of duty-free sales on Hainan's outlying islands exceeded 100 million yuan for seven consecutive days from December 13 to 19, and the duty-free market gradually "recovered".

From January to November, Haikou Customs supervised a total of 32.2 billion yuan in duty-free sales on outlying islands, 45.94 million shopping items, and 3.9 million shopping tourists.

Compared with the same period in 2021, all three data have declined to varying degrees.

In early December, all duty-free shops across the island launched a two-month "Outlying Islands Duty-Free New Year's Eve Carnival Season". Through discounts and the issuance of duty-free consumption coupons, the recovery of duty-free consumption in Hainan's outlying islands was further catalyzed.
