A panel of experts newly established by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has begun deliberations on how to conduct investigations in the event of a child's fatal accident as a safety measure for schools.

At the first meeting of the expert panel held on the 23rd, a discussion was held on the issue that there are few cases where detailed investigations by external experts have been conducted when a child's fatal accident occurred at school.

According to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology six years ago, if local governments judge it necessary, they will conduct detailed investigations, but in the six years until March this year, 131 cases were reported to the government. Of the fatal accidents, only 14 were investigated.

The members of the committee expressed opinions such as, ``It is necessary to organize and present the requirements for the accident to be investigated,'' and ``It is necessary to verify whether consideration for the families of the victims has been given.''

In addition, there were also discussions on improving safety education for teachers and creating a system to analyze and verify data on accidents that have occurred in schools.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology will consider measures to improve the effectiveness of school safety measures, including revising guidelines based on discussions at the conference.
