Because some elderly people have been bedridden for a long time, unable to speak, and accompanied by emotional instability, they need to patiently try to communicate with the elderly, understand some basic conditions of the elderly, check the level of physical activity, and learn about the condition from their family members.

For example, what is the range of motion of the limbs and joints, whether there are bedsores on the back, how to go to the toilet at ordinary times... each item is recorded on the form one by one.

Chen Daming passed the senior citizens' ability assessor certificate in 2020, and is now conducting assessment work in Qijiang District, Chongqing.

They collect assessment needs through communities and elderly care institutions, and then go to the elderly's home for on-site assessment.

According to Chen Daming, the ability evaluators of the elderly will comprehensively evaluate and score the elderly based on four first-level indicators of physiology, psychology, spirit, and society and 22 second-level indicators, including the elderly's self-care ability, risk of getting lost, and falling. Index, pressure sore risk, mental state, etc., will be reported to the community after the assessment report, which will provide a reference for the determination of individual care levels.

"It is not easy to be a capacity assessor for the elderly. It not only requires basic knowledge of nursing and medicine, but also love and empathy for the elderly." Chen Daming said.

In the evaluation experience, he saw that some elderly people cannot take care of themselves, and some elderly people are unfriendly to others due to mental problems.

In the face of different case situations, Chen Daming will treat them equally.

He believes that everyone will grow old, and every elderly person has the right to enjoy a quality old age life.

In the nearly three years since becoming a capacity assessor for the elderly, Chen Daming has visited more than 300 elderly households, offering possibilities for improving their lives in their later years.

He said that this profession is not only a new profession in the society, but also a career that requires emotional investment. If his efforts can benefit more families, his work will be more meaningful.
