On the afternoon of the 23rd, a fire broke out in one room in a housing complex in Chigasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and one person was found dead after the burn, and a total of four people were transported to the hospital after inhaling smoke.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire as well as confirming the identity.

After 3:30 pm on the 23rd, a neighbor found smoke coming out of a room in a housing complex in Hamamidaira, Chigasaki City, and reported it to the fire department and the police.



The fire was extinguished after about two and a half hours, but one room on the fourth floor of the apartment complex was burned and one person was found dead.



In addition, a man in his 40s who lived in the room where the fire started, an elderly couple who lived in a nearby room, and a grandson of elementary school age, all four people were taken to the hospital after inhaling smoke.

None of the four people were found to be in a life-threatening condition.



According to police, a man in his 70s who lives in the room where the fire broke out has not been contacted.
