According to NITE, 36 snowplow accidents have been reported in the 10 years until March this year, and 25 people have died.



The age of the fatal accident was 10 people over the age of 80, and more than 90% of the total was over the age of 60, but there were also accidents in which a 9-year-old boy was involved and died.



As for the details of the accident, for example, when the snow blower was backed up with the safety device for emergency stop released when the hand was released from the steering wheel, the snow blower was crushed under the ground and died, or before the snow blower stopped completely. In addition, there have been cases where fingers were injured when trying to remove stuck snow directly by hand.



More than 40% of the accidents were caused by using the snow thrower in the wrong way, such as disabling the safety device. We are calling for caution, such as carefully checking your feet and surrounding obstacles so that you do not fall or get caught in a snowplow.
