In response to a series of troubles related to pregnancy and childbirth of foreign technical intern trainees, the Immigration and Immigration Services Agency has been targeting female trainees in seven countries, including Vietnam and the Philippines, from August to last month. According to this, the percentage of people who answered that they had received inappropriate comments such as "If you get pregnant, you should quit your job" from related organizations and companies was 26%, which is about one in four people.



Of these,


73% came from sending organizations in their home countries,


followed


by 14% from Japanese supervising organizations that mediate acceptance, and


11% from companies where they were intern.



In fact, 5% of the trainees had signed an inappropriate contract that said, "If I get pregnant, I will quit my job and return to my country."



On the other hand, 59% of those who received an explanation said that in Japan, the Equal Employment Opportunity Law prohibits disadvantageous treatment such as dismissal due to pregnancy or childbirth.
