Motorists traveling in Le Vésinet (Yvelines) will have to change some of their habits from January 1, 2023. On this date, the maximum speed not to be exceeded in all the streets of the city will increase to 30 km/h , reports 78 News.

On the sections of the departmental roads located on the territory of the municipality, the vehicles will however be able to continue to drive at 50 km / h maximum.

With this decision, Le Vésinet is following in the footsteps of several other municipalities in the department.

The municipal team explained that it had chosen to change the maximum speed "in a process of traffic calming and better cohabitation between all users".

She hopes to observe a reduction in noise pollution and improve road safety.

The municipality has thus highlighted the halving of the braking distance and a wider field of vision.

She also assured that a lowered speed limit would lead to "more flexible and more economical driving" for motorists, with the key to the release of less polluting gases into the air.
