The Scottish chef, Ahmed Islam Ali, the creator of the chicken tikka masala dish, has passed away at the age of 77, according to his restaurant's page, "Glasgow" via "Facebook".

Chicken tikka masala has become a traditional dish served by South Asian restaurants around the world.

And this dish began to be served with curry and spices in the seventies of the last century in the “Shish Mahal” restaurant, before it became one of the most eaten dishes in the United Kingdom.

Speaking to Agence France-Presse in 2009, Ahmed Islam Ali, who hails from Punjab, Pakistan, said, “Chicken tikka masala was created in our restaurant.

We used to serve chicken tikka (marinated grilled chicken), but on one occasion a customer expressed his desire to add sauce to this dish, and since then we have been preparing it with a sauce consisting of yogurt, cream and spices.

In 2001, then British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook noted that chicken tikka masala was "the British national dish par excellence" and "an excellent example of the way Great Britain receives and adapts to outside influences".
