At an unlicensed nursery school in Niigata City, where child-rearing support staff were exposed to inappropriate behavior toward children, other inappropriate behavior such as locking children in locker rooms was discovered. Our policy is to provide thorough guidance to prevent recurrence.

At the unlicensed childcare facility “Urban Nursery School Popola Niigata Higashinaka Dori” in Chuo-ku, Niigata City, from May to June this year, a child-rearing supporter scolded one child for a long time and wrapped a futon around the body. It has become clear that inappropriate acts such as wearing them have been done.

According to the city, in a survey of this facility, the

same child-rearing support staff locked the child in the locker room or warehouse for about 5 to 15 minutes, grabbed the child's arm for a long time and scolded him, and

▽ another staff member. However, it turned out that he had locked other children in the laundry room.

The city will demand that the facility side submit an investigation report by the end of the year, saying that the series of actions was inappropriate, and will instruct them to thoroughly prevent recurrence.

In Niigata City, there have been multiple voices pointing out that inappropriate acts were being carried out at facilities other than this time, and the city is proceeding with the investigation.

Mayor of Niigata City "Things that should not happen"

Regarding this issue, Mayor Nakahara of Niigata City said at a press conference on the 22nd, ``Children should not be hurt at facilities that are supposed to be places where parents can leave their children with peace of mind. In the future, I would like to conduct training at childcare facilities in the city and call attention to it."
