One of the Egyptian reciters was reciting the Qur’an in one of the funerals in Dakahlia Governorate, so one of the attendees asked him to recite a verse, and in the meantime he made inappropriate movements that caused his arrest, so what is the story and what movement did he make?

The “Shabakat” program (22/12/2022) followed the story of Sheikh Muhammad Hamed Al-Silkawi, who is an accredited reciter with the Egyptian Radio, which means that he passed exams before a committee of sheikhs and broadcasters.

However, during his reading of the Qur’an, he made a movement suggesting that he was dancing, which is not commensurate with the sanctity of reading the Qur’an, and therefore was considered offensive in its context and the occasion of its appearance.

In response to these movements that angered the Egyptians, the Unified Committee for Testing Readers and Those Who Indulge in Radio - after the video clip reached it - took a decision published by Egyptian newspapers stating: "The reader was removed from the map of foreign broadcasts, evenings, and Quranic recordings for a year, due to what he read from him." The Holy Qur’an in an inappropriate way and movements, as well as his lack of proficiency in intonation rulings.

The tweeters commented on the reader's action and the radio's decision, and interacted with the story greatly. Activist Ahmed Saad praised the decision to stop the reader and wrote, "Stopping the sheikh for a year is a very respectable decision so that the reader is committed while reciting the verses of God Almighty."

Tweeter Muhammad Ibrahim Othman supported the step of taking strict measures against the readers in the event that they did not adhere to the sanctity of the Holy Qur’an, and he said, “The problem is not in stopping them from appearing on radio or television, but the problem is in double standards .. There are a very large number of readers, and there must be decisive decisions and measures.” strictly against them.

On the other hand, the activist Sayed Muntasir saw that it was just a spontaneous movement by the reader and did not deserve all this fuss and commented, "What happened from Sheikh Muhammad Al-Silkawi, I think it is a spontaneous matter, and we should not hang him because of it... a natural response to the attracted man who appeared in front of him and asked him Repeat the verse again, so we found him committed after that until the end of the video.

Activist Jad Al-Basiouni wondered about the role of the committee that stopped him as long as it had approved it in advance and wrote, "Your Honor, where did I come before you and the committee entrusted with approving the gentlemen of the readers, and you agreed to it, and he succeeded in the tests, whether the provisions of intonation, sound, or otherwise, is not like this or what."

For its part, the reader's family apologized for the clip, and his son published, "We acknowledge that this situation caused my father to be right, and he responded to the listener. We apologize for that, and we ask you not to circulate the clip in order to preserve our feelings."

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian school of Quran recitation is the most famous and oldest in the Islamic world, where the voice of Sheikh Abd al-Basit Abd al-Samad can be heard in the streets of Bangladesh and the voice of Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil al-Husari in the neighborhoods of Indonesia, and the voices of the first class of old reciters are still heard by people daily and dominate their conscience despite The emergence of new generations of readers.
