  "Four Medical Codes" was formed in the 8th century AD and was written by the famous Tibetan medical scientist Yutuningma Yundan Gonpo. It has four parts and 156 chapters. It is a classic work integrating the essence of Tibetan medical practice and theory. The medical book with the highest status and the most system has been included in the "List of Archives and Documentary Heritage of China" and "Asia-Pacific Register of the Memory of the World".

  This set of books was collected and organized by the research group of the Tibetan Medicine and Astronomy Calendar Ancient Book Documentation Center of Tibet University of Tibetan Medicine.

According to Langdong Dorji Zhuoga, the main person in charge of the research group, the most difficult thing to organize and publish this series of books is the collection of data. There are 18 different editions of "Four Medical Codes", including Dragon Ball Edition, Zongga Edition, Labrang Edition, and Gangbu Edition, most of which are complete versions.

Among them, the Babang version is a handwritten and colored version with the most complete annotations; the Dragon Ball version is a rare and complete version; the Zongga version (color) and the Juere version are incomplete, but relatively rare versions.

  Langdong Dorje Zhuoga said that there are three different editions of "Four Medical Codes" in the published "Chinese Tibetan Medicine Photocopy Ancient Books" (volume 1-60).

The research team has collected all 21 editions of the "Four Medical Codes" and published them, hoping to provide research assistance for experts and scholars in the field of Tibetan medicine.

According to the project plan, the collection, collation and proofreading of "Chinese Tibetan Medicine Photocopying Rare Books of Ancient Books" (71-80 volumes) has been basically completed, and it is planned to publish up to 100 volumes in the future when the publishing funds permit.

  Since the collation project of "Photocopying Rare Books of Ancient Books of Tibetan Medicine in China" was launched in 2010, 60 volumes have been published successively.

In June 2014, Tibet People's Publishing House published "Chinese Tibetan Medicine Photocopying Rare Books of Ancient Books" (volume 1-30), and in January 2021, it will be published in 60 volumes, covering the history of Tibetan medicine, basic theory, pharmacology, clinical experience, Preparation processing, astronomy and calendar calculations, etc., a total of 1,588 kinds of ancient books, 96,446 leaves, and more than 49 million characters are included.
