A self-composed song released by Eric, a member of THE BOYZ on his birthday, has been embroiled in a plagiarism controversy.

Today (22nd), the third non-regular sound source '4:03 (Jet Lag)' was released on The Boyz's official SNS to celebrate Eric's birthday.

SoundCloud is a music streaming site based in Germany. It is a platform where you can freely share and download music you have created yourself or licensed to others.

This self-composed song is an irregular sound source that Eric released after a year, and it is a song that contains longing for fans and a desire to see them.

However, immediately after its release, K-pop fans responded that Eric's self-composed song had a similar melody to BAP's 'Coffee Shop'.

The part that caused the most controversy was the piano melody inserted at the beginning and end.

K-pop fans who encountered the song written and composed by 'Eric' said plagiarism such as "Is this a different version of BAP Coffee Shop?", "The meaning of the song and the lyrics are all good, but isn't it plagiarism?" The response was that this was not the case.

Some The Boyz fans also left comments such as "I wonder if it's true that I sampled the song because it's so similar to the senior's song" and "I'm more worried because it's a fan song."

BAP fans expressed their opinion that it is impossible to make money due to the nature of Sound Cloud, but if you sampled 'Coffee Shop', it would be nice to indicate the source.

'Coffee Shop', which was released in June 2013 as one of the title songs of BAP's third mini-album, was written and composed by member Bang Yong-guk and producer 'Star Trek (Kang Ji-won & Kim Ki-bum)' of TS Entertainment at the time. Jazz pianist Song Young-joo participated together.

The Boyz, to which Eric is a member, is an 11-member group that debuted in 2017 and recently released a special single 'All About You'.

The Boyz will appear at the '2022 SBS Gayo Daejeon' held at Gocheok Sky Dome on the 24th and perform a special year-end stage with the band Jaurim.
