Culture is the spiritual lifeblood of the entire society.

The popularity of sports can also enhance the physical fitness of all people in the whole society.

Therefore, culture and sports, both spiritually and physically, seek to make progress in our society.

[Explanation] A few days ago, Yang Runxiong, director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency that as a newly established government department in July this year, the bureau is responsible for multiple policy areas and its purpose is to seek social progress.

From the Director of the Bureau of Education to the Director of the Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism, he has been in office for nearly half a year. In Yang Runxiong's view, education and culture, sports and tourism work seem to be completely different, but in fact they have something in common.

In essence, the Education Bureau is targeting ordinary students and ordinary young people. What we are talking about is how to nurture them to grow up.

(Cultural and sports work) We contact people of different ages, different backgrounds, or maybe of different ethnicities, so our culture, sports and tourism bureau will have a much wider contact area.

On the contrary, education, culture and sports have one thing in common, that is, they are probably long-term work, and you can only see the results (after) some long-term and long-term work.

[Explanation] The national "14th Five-Year Plan" positions Hong Kong as a "Chinese and foreign cultural and artistic exchange center".

Yang Runxiong said that this fully takes into account the cultural characteristics of Hong Kong, and the mission of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau is to speed up the new positioning of Hong Kong's development in a timely manner.

Yang Runxiong said that Hong Kong, like the mainland, is based on Chinese culture, but has had more contact with Western culture in the past hundred years, thus forming a cultural style that combines Chinese and Western cultures.

In the 1980s and 1990s (the last century), whether it was our movies or Cantonese songs, they actually had a certain influence throughout Southeast Asia and even in Europe and America where there were more Chinese.

This also shows that we have our own Hong Kong characteristics.

But many times you will see that even if we make movies or songs, there are actually many values of our Chinese culture appearing in them.

In the Hong Kong Palace Museum, some of us use our Hong Kong curatorial features to show some Chinese culture or some of our cultural relics, and use this feature to attract more Hong Kong people or foreigners. A new angle to see some artifacts.

[Explanation] Previously, Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachao mentioned in his policy address that in order to promote the development of popular culture in Hong Kong, the SAR government plans to co-host the "Popular Culture Festival" with the industry every year.

Yang Runxiong revealed that the Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism is fully promoting the implementation of this project.

We will promote a "pop culture festival" in the first half of next year (2023).

There are many contents in it.

Our actual goal is to find out the popular culture at that time by discussing the popular culture from the 1960s to the 1990s, and think about why it attracted the attention of so many people in society at that time, and With such a great influence, we can use past experience to develop our current popular culture.

[Explanation] How to make Hong Kong pop culture go global, Yang Runxiong believes that more efforts need to be made in cooperation and innovation.

We encourage Hong Kong films to do more cooperation with Asian films. Thailand, India, or South Korea, everyone can have some cooperation, and we will produce some new themes, whether in shooting or content, so that we can enter their fields. market, or they enter our market, this can also drive the development of the entire industry.

As for TV programs, we hope to try to cooperate more with the Mainland.

Or on streaming platforms, especially for young people, the form of entertainment has changed in how they watch programs, so we feel that this platform requires more investment from us and encourages industry friends to do more in this regard.
