Monday, after being sentenced for rape in Los Angeles, Harvey Weinstein reacted, through his spokesperson, indicating that he was "disappointed".

The former Hollywood producer is already serving a 23-year sentence behind bars in New York, where he was convicted of sex crimes in 2020, and risks, in this Californian case, an additional 18 to 24 years in prison.

Suffice to say that the 70-year-old man has little chance of leaving a prison establishment alive.

He therefore announced in the process his intention to appeal, and his lawyer believes that they have a good chance.

“Harvey is obviously disappointed with the verdict.

He knows what happened and what never happened,” his spokesperson said.

“However, the story of unknown number 1 has a solid legal basis to appeal, because the logic of the time and place of the alleged incident does not make sense.

Harvey is grateful for the work of the jury on the other counts, and he is determined to continue his legal efforts to prove his innocence.

From one call to another

The Los Angeles trial relied on four women, named Jane Doe (Unknown) 1-4 to protect their anonymity.

Harvey Weinstein's three convictions at the trial relate solely to Jane Doe #1.

As the jury failed to reach a verdict on the other three plaintiffs, the charges were dismissed.
