"Phosphine"...the silent killer..how to avoid it?!

The silent killer, deadly poison, or lethal gas are all names that indicate one address for the most dangerous thing a person can be exposed to.

ALUMINUM PHOSPHIDE, or the gas produced from it (phosphine), is toxic, deadly and deadly. Many deaths resulting from poisoning of humans and animals have been monitored after exposure to it.

During the past years, many cases of poisoning and deaths have been recorded.

Because of the use of "aluminium phosphide" as an insecticide;

For ignorance of its use or how to avoid and prevent its damage.

It is ideal for eliminating insects, of all types and stages of growth, without affecting the vitality of plants or their seeds, which leads to its use in agricultural purposes.

It is worth noting that there is no anti-toxin or antidote for this gas, which makes it more dangerous than other authorized insecticides, as it silently preys on its victims.

Phosphine gas was banned in the early nineties in America, and classified as toxic gas, according to the US Health and Safety Administration, which is responsible for health in the field of work.

Why was he called the silent killer?

Doctors agree that when looking at the bodies of (phosphine) victims, it is difficult to speculate on the cause.

So it is more like a silent killer;

Which leaves no signs or indications of its existence other than blue lips and a cold body, which leaves doctors confused about it, and there are many conclusions and searches for evidence and clues for such cases.

Its definition and what it is:

Scientific encyclopedias, including Wikipedia, define it (ALUMINUM PHOSPHIDE) as a chemical compound with the formula PH3.

It is a colorless flammable gas and is considered a poisonous gas.

Pure phosphine is odorless, but technical samples have a very unpleasant odor, like garlic or rotting fish, due to the presence of phosphine with diphosphine (P2H4).

Phosphine is used extensively as an insecticide and rodenticide. It has been known since 1940 AD, when it spread rapidly, as an effective substance used in spraying agricultural crops.

This is due to the velocity of the gas release.

3 milligrams... can end a child's life!

We mentioned that (ALUMINUM PHOSPHIDE) is an insecticide that interacts with moisture to form phosphine gas, the evaporative substance that spreads in the air with an increasing concentration of the compound, after exposure to any source of moisture, as each (3 mg) equivalent to one tablet, capable of killing a child.

Contraindications and symptoms

Aluminum phosphide is not used in homes;

As it can leak through the ventilation holes to the adjacent spaces;

It spreads very quickly through sewage and air.

It is reported that its boiling point is very low (-87 degrees Celsius).

Recommended for use only by experts and in uninhabited areas;

To avoid possible disasters if it is used in residential areas.

Also, (aluminium phosphide) is completely prohibited, and it is forbidden to promote it, just as it is forbidden to sell it without controls and mechanisms.

Aluminum phosphide tablets work when exposed to the atmosphere, so they interact with moisture and release toxic (phosphine) gas. When people are exposed to them, symptoms appear that are similar to those of food poisoning, namely:

- Shortness of breath.

- Fatigue and nausea.

Coolness of the extremities and general weakness that afflicts the body.

- Inability to concentrate.

Headache.

- diarrhoea.

In many cases, it is difficult to aid the injured, unless the case is dealt with accurately and clearly and diagnosed correctly.

Pesticides similar to aluminum phosphide:

Experts identify several pesticides that are similar to aluminum phosphide, in terms of the release of gas (toxic phosphine PH3) and at a different concentration, including:

zinc phosphide and magnesium phosphide (MAGNESIUM PHOSPHIDE).

Ways to avoid and prevent it

1- When inhaling the smell of rotten eggs or fish, or any similar smell, you must leave the house immediately and evacuate the building.

2- As far away as possible from the source of the smell.

3- Contacting the concerned authorities, such as civil defense, ambulance, etc.

4- Work to contain the gas leak, before it spreads and claims more lives.

First aid can also be given to the injured as follows:

- Keep him away from the danger area, remove his clothes and put them in a tightly closed plastic bag.

- Washing the skin of the infected person with warm water and soap;

To remove gas attached to the skin and reduce its risk.

- Covering the injured person with clean clothes and covers to prevent hypothermia and fluid loss.

- In some cases, which are not dangerous, oxygen can be given directly to the injured person.
