The baker in the town of Sérifontaine (Oise) has been experiencing financial difficulties for some time.

Like many traders, he has to deal with the rising cost of energy.

But he has also been the victim of burglaries in recent months.

Worried about his future, a resident of the town decided to help him, reports

L'Eclaireur de la Dépêche

.

Sunday, December 11, he launched an online kitty through his website dedicated to local heritage.

“By participating, you will express your support for a merchant who is in a difficult period due to the vertiginous increase in his charges.

Finally, you will affirm that its business has been part of the soul of our town for more than a century and that you do not want to see it disappear,” he wrote.

The inhabitant counts on the generosity of people to be able to help the baker as much as possible and to preserve the heritage of the village.

“Along with the church, the old castle and the town hall, the bakery in our town is one of its oldest institutions,” he writes on his blog.

In ten days, about twenty people responded to his call and 850 euros have already been collected.
