The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology set up an expert panel and held its first meeting to consider revising the Special Pay Act, which stipulates that teachers will not be paid overtime.

At the meeting, we will sort out the points of discussion and plan to lead to discussions on the review from the spring of next year.

The Special Pay Act, which stipulates the salary of public school teachers, stipulates that they will not be paid overtime in exchange for an additional 4% of their monthly salary.

Regarding this law, many people pointed out that the burden of work on teachers was increasing and dissatisfaction with salaries was increasing.

Under these circumstances, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology set up an expert panel that gathered nine people, including university professors and principals of elementary and junior high schools, to consider revising the "Payment Special Law", and held its first meeting on the 20th.

At the meeting, it was confirmed that in addition to teachers' salaries and work styles, research and consideration will be carried out on work style reforms at schools.

Some of the committee members expressed the opinion that "on-site efforts for work style reform are nearing their limits."

The panel of experts is planning to summarize points of contention on salaries and other issues by spring next year.

On the other hand, the results of a survey on teachers' working hours for the first time in six years are expected to be released next spring, and based on those results, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology will discuss revising the Special Pay Act. Policy.
