A workshop based in Crépy-en-Valois, in the Oise, makes an original and symbolic gift from a Chinese tradition: the blanket with 100 wishes.

had not foreseen this original and symbolic gift from a Chinese tradition: the blanket with 100 wishes (
bai jia bei
).
The idea is simple: make a patchwork blanket from pieces of fabric offered by family or friends and for which everyone has made a wish for protection.
A former French teacher undertook, seven years ago, to develop this project, before setting up a manufacturing workshop in Crépy-en-Valois, in the Oise, in 2019. And since then, it has worked.
We can even say, it sews.
Fabric squares of all sizes are assembled to form unique and collaborative blankets, accompanied by a personalized greeting booklet.
“A pretext to tell someone how much you love them”
"I discovered this tradition by chance on the Internet, at the beginning of social networks", says Marion Aveline, the founder of the Les 100 Vœux brand.
The 37-year-old young woman, originally from Crépy-en-Valois, then uses the concept to celebrate the birth of her niece.
“When I saw the emotion that this gift gave, I said to myself that there was a furrow to dig, she admits.
These covers are actually an excuse to tell someone how much you love them.

Since then, three seamstresses have worked regularly in the workshop “with the quality of French craftsmanship”, specifies Marion Aveline.
About 600 pieces of fabric are referenced.
It is up to everyone to make their choice online according to the principle of a common kitty
(see box
).
In general, these are covers of ten pieces that are manufactured, but not only.
“Our record remains a blanket made up of 234 pieces of fabric.
It measured 4.50 m by 2.50 m,” recalls Marion Aveline.
And if Christmas is a special occasion to offer this kind of gift, “the May-June period is also conducive to an increase in production with celebrations such as baptisms or weddings”, underlines the manager of the Les 100 Vœux site.
One of the most popular options remains the birth of a child.

How it works ?
The blanket with 100 Wishes is a common gift allowing several people to be involved.
Each participant pays their own participation which amounts to 12.90 euros per wish and per piece of fabric chosen.
A minimum of eight wishes is set.
The realization of the object and its shipping are already included in the individual amount to be paid.
