The road sign indicated that the speed was limited to 90 km/h but the automatic radar flashed from 80 km/h.

The anomaly had been going on since November 30 on a device installed in the town of Tonnay-Charente (Charente-Maritime) along departmental road 137. It was the Info Trafic 17 association that alerted the authorities to the actions of this "crazy radar" after having received dozens of messages from motorists who have received their fine, often accompanied by the withdrawal of a license point.

But things got back to normal on Monday.

The Charente-Maritime prefecture confirmed that the device was "faulty" and that "the rectification has been made to the equipment which is working properly again".

Those who have already paid their ticket will be contacted by the National Offenses Processing Center (CNT), based in Rennes.

The others can frame it, there will be no sequel.
