American Oscar winner Jane Fonda has recovered from cancer.

The actress, who will be celebrating her 85th birthday next week, took to Instagram to let fans know she's finished chemotherapy.

"My oncologist told me for the past week that my cancer is under control," Fonda wrote, captioned "Best Birthday Present Ever!".

At the beginning of September, the actress announced that she was suffering from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a malignant disease of the lymphatic system.

As she also let her followers know at the time, the type of cancer is easily treatable.

“80 percent of the patients survive.

I feel fortunate," Fonda wrote.

The actress, who is often mocked for her political commitment, celebrated the success of chemotherapy last week with a trip to Washington, where she took to the streets for climate protection.

In the 1970s, the American film academy awarded Fonda Oscars for her roles in the productions Klute and Coming Home.

In recent years, the daughter of Hollywood star Henry Fonda has appeared in the series Grace and Frankie.
