Regarding the sinking accident of a tourist boat off the coast of Shiretoko Peninsula, the Japan Transport Safety Board has compiled an investigation report that it is highly likely that seawater entered through the hatch at the front of the boat, and will publish it soon. I understand.

There is a suspicion that the hatch cover was not sufficiently tightened while the vessel was sailing.

In the accident in which the tourist boat "KAZU 1" sank off the coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula in April, the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the accident.

According to the investigation so far, it is known that the cover of the "hatch" that leads from the forward deck to the ship's warehouse at the bottom of the ship = the hold, but the Japan Transport Safety Board will examine the hull that was raised from the seabed in detail. As a result, we learned from interviews with people involved that a report was compiled that there is a high possibility that seawater entered from the hatch.

It is suspected that the cover that seals the 'hatch' was not properly tightened.

It was also found that there were holes in three walls separating the two holds below the deck, the engine room where the engine was located, and a room near the rudder known as the "da machine room." It is believed that the inundation spread through these holes.

The Japan Transport Safety Board will publish a report soon.

Twenty people died in this accident, and six people are still missing.
